Soul Padel UK needed an introduction video for the new court at Decathlon Stockport, led by founder Mark Hewlett. The concept was to film a podcast-style conversation on the padel court, using audio from the discussion with Jonathan Pierre from The Athlete’s Blueprint while visually introducing the space and the sport. Cutaway shots from the open day are layered over the dialogue, showing players on court and the environment around the venue. This approach creates an introduction to Soul Padel UK and the new Stockport location, combining the founder’s story with visuals of the facility and the sport in use
Behind the lens...
The podcast scenes were filmed on the padel court before the event day. Two key lights were positioned behind the speakers, pointing towards each other to create shape and separation, with a softer fill light placed at the front on the shadow side. The lights were intentionally left visible in the background to give the setup a relaxed podcast-style look. Cameras were set with a 35mm wide shot and a 70mm B-cam for tighter angles, allowing clean cuts between perspectives while keeping the conversation natural.
