The brief...

Capture exterior drone imagery of three major neighbourhood developments across the city of Manchester, showing each site in full within its wider urban context. The focus was on complete neighbourhood views of each development, set against different sides of the city skyline. Each location needed to be captured in day, dusk, and night conditions to show how the areas shift with light and time. Alongside the wider views, there was room for closer compositions where they added value, as long as full neighbourhood coverage remained the priority. Content was required in both landscape and portrait formats to support use across website, social media, email campaigns, and digital brochures. The final set needed to present a clear view of scale, architecture, and how each development sits within the evolving city skyline

The result...

A full library of aerial imagery capturing each neighbourhood in context, showing scale, structure, and how each development sits within the wider city. Each site was shot in day, dusk, and night conditions, creating a complete visual set that highlights how the architecture changes with light and atmosphere. The wider views were prioritised to show the full footprint of each neighbourhood, with selected closer frames used to add detail and variation where it enhanced the composition

The final collection delivered both landscape and portrait formats, giving flexibility across website, social media, email, and brochure use. The imagery presents a consistent visual language across all three developments, helping communicate progress, place, and identity within the city skyline

Behind the lens...

Shot using DJI drones, combining standard aerial frames with panoramic captures for key hero images. Raw files were stitched in PTGui to build high-resolution wide views of each neighbourhood within the city context. HDR techniques were used during sunrise and sunset to retain detail across changing light and high-contrast skies. For dusk, long exposure methods were applied to smooth movement and bring out atmosphere as the city lit up
